Designer Rina Dhaka showcased her collection “Free Spirited Bride” at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 in New Delhi on its second day. Sophie Choudhary opened the show, while Prateik Babbar and Amyra Dastur were the showstoppers.
The collection displayed by Rina Dhaka was true to its name and definitely saw a free spirited use of an amalgamation of designs that had their roots in traditional and ethnic craft. There was a widespread use of works such as kamdani, gota, patti, appliqué, jharokha inspired embroidery, patchwork, mirror, mokaish and sequin art. All of these were incorporated in rich designs and seen on various outfits – that comprised of sherwanis, shararas, voluminous skirts, flared pants, short anarkalis, churidaars, high collared tops, bustiers, net sarees and angrakkhas.
There was a rich play of fabrics with the use of materials such as georgette, tulle, net, velvet and satin among other sheer ones. The effect was further heightened with the use of colors such as yellows, pinks, reds and even candy floss hues which were nicely interspersed with golden, beige and other neutral shades.
